Breeding program

I breed the cockatiels per couple in flights from 2m by 1m. As nest block I prefer a natural breeding block (hollow tree-trunks) with a minimum diameter of 23 cm.

More and more often one always tries to breed at the large size, but it has inferior breed results compared to the smaller sizes. On an average I grow 3 to 4 youngsters per couple. In this way I breed two rounds with both per year: the wild colors and the opalines. After about six weeks the youngsters are pricked and moved to a big evasion aviary of 6m long by 3m wide.

From this moment on these birds will be provided with the necessary care and food. A more thorough explanation on this important aspect of the breeding program can be found at the section “nutrition”.
